The objective of this article is to investigate the vagueness in interpreting certain clauses in which the subject is null in Modern Standard Arabic. The problem is that there is no difficulty in interpreting the sentence if the subject position is filled with an overt noun phrase; however, there is a confusion if the subject of the same position is covert and PRO has vague anaphoric references with the subject or object of the matrix at LF. The study concludes that PRO succumbs to both subject and object obligatory controls that need to be understood by the interpreter to get correct interpretation at LF. Furthermore, the interpreter must take into account that the semantic roles that area assigned to PRO at spell-out do not have any direct influence on the interpretation of the clauses at LF.
