Abstract
Neonatal respiratory distress syndrome refers to respiratory failure that occurs after birth due to the absence of pulmonary surfactant and is a major cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality. It is believed that this syndrome affects only premature infants, but with great awareness of it, its diagnosis has become more frequent among newborns.
