Abstract

The field experiments were carried out during the agricultural season 2021-2022 at a privet farm at Kafer Essam Village-Tanta, Gharbya, Egypt . for planting the most common faba bean crop variety (Giza716). The metering plates were designed and simulated by Solidworks software at the Agricultural Engineering Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Tanta University. The faba bean metering plates was designed, analyzed, and evaluated by using different materials to suitable for planting all shapes of faba bean seeds. Four different shapes with five different materials of (ABS+, TPU, NYLON, PTFE, and Ertalon) were designed before and fabricated. The finite element, fatigue, and topology optimization tests were applied on all the designed metering plate.The raised bed machine were tested and evaluated with the metering plates which manufactured by using 3D printing technology with different materials in Tanta Motors Aboufreikha Factory, Tanta, Egypt. The resultes showed the plate with ”TPU” material will not fail under the given stresses as the maximum stresses are much lower than the yield strength of the plate material will not carry out any significant deformations according to the loading conditions applied.The analyzing results of the metering plate indicated that the yield strength, Von Mises, displacement, RFRES, ESTRN, damage, load factor, stress amplitude, stiffness , stress intensity, triaxle stress, strain energy density, and total strain energy, were 1.237e+06, 1.543e+04 MPA, 1.533e-10mm,2.230e-02,1.867e-07,1.063e+03,4.508e+06,75.34 N/mm2(MPa), 7.47e-10, 1.440e+04 N/m2, 1.057e+041N/m2, 2.394e-02 N.m/m3, 1.539e-11N.m respectively. While with the plate with ABS+ the yield strength, von Mises, displacement, RFRES, ESTRN, damage, load factor, stress amplitude, stiffness , stress intensity, triaxle stress, strain energy density, and total strain energy were 2.50e+006, 9.743e+06Mpa,2.065e-01mm,1.855e-02N,5.636e-10,7.042e+2,1.3866e+06,22.22 MPa ,2.49926e-08,1.440e+04N/m2, 1.057e+041N/m 2,2.394e-02N.m/m3 and 2.637e-21 N.m respectively.The raised bed machine was tested and evaluated under three different forward speeds of 2, 3.5, and 4.5 km/h, and three different planting distances of 15, 20, and 25 cm. The performance evaluation results indicated that the lowest percentage of missing hills, seed damage, germination ratio, and dispersion ratio were 1.4,1.2, 97.57, and 8.5% at a forward speed of 2km/h and planting distance of 15 cm.The highest value of the effective field capacity, and the lowest value of specific energy were 1.25 fed/h, 11.66kW.h/fed, respectively.
