Abstract

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has become the most common liver cancer worldwide, with increasing incidence worldwide including Egypt. The main reason for its spread in Egypt is due to Hepatitis C virus (HCV), which often leads to liver fibrosis, cirrhosis and finally HCC. Recently, Liquid biobsy; which is used to detect biomarkers associated with HCC in tissues or body fluids, has become the most promising approach to improve the diagnostic accuracy of this type of cancer and overcome the disadvantages of current diagnostic strategies. from the foregoing, the need for a more sensitive and accurate screening tool in HCC has led to the emergence of various tumor biomarkers. This directed us to investigate two of the cell cycle proteins; including non-phosphorylated forms of mammalian target of rapamycin (np mTORc1) and cyclinD1(np CCND1) in sera of patients with HCC caused by HCV infection in order to shed more light on their roles in cellular disorders in patients with this type of cancer. Moreover, this research aims to evaluate the laboratory diagnostic characteristics of their roles in the process of cancerous cellular transformation in them. As well as assessing the extent to which the changes in the activity of the acid mammalian chitinase (AMCase) and some antioxidant biomarkers are related to the cellular changes of these patients.
