Abstract
The present work includes a study on the effect of medium and substitution on the spectral behavior of some hydroxyl derivatives of anthraquinone and their PK values. The investigation was carried out using absorption spectro-photometry in the visible region in media containing aqueous organic solvents of various polarities and percentages. The study is extended to the effect of some trivalent transition metal ions viz Sc3+, Y3+ and La3+, on the visible absorption spectra. Also the spectrophotometric determination of these elements using some hydroxyanthraquinone is also discussed.
