Abstract

The prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii infection in ducks was evaluated through detection of antibodies in the sera of ducks using the modified agglutination test (MAT). The positive cases were 21 out of 151 (13.9 %). Among the positive ducks 13(61.9%) had end point titer of 1:25,4(19.047%) had end point titer of 1:50, and 4 (19.047%) had end point titer of 1:100 while no cases were positive at titer of 1:200. El-Massry et al., (2000) found prevalence of (50 %) at titer of 1:25 in ducks. Literák and Hejlícek (1993) found prevalence of 1.70 % by the dye test in Czech republic. Burridge (1979) found prevalence of 6% by indirect haemagglutination test in 16 wood ducks in Florida. Zardi et al., (1967b) found high rate of positive results from ducks in Italy, 56% of 25 and 48% of 31 specimen. Zástera et al., (1965) found 12.5% of duck specimens in Czechoslovakia. Grzywinski (1967b) did not detect any antibodies in the 100 ducks examined by the dye test in Poland. Havlik and hübner (1960) reported negative result in serological dye test in ducks from Czechoslovakia
