Abstract One hundred random samples of raw milk were collected from different localities in El-Behera Governorate for isolation of Aeromonads and for detection of their pathogenicity. Aeromonads could be detected using surface plating technique on Ryan’s Aeromonas agar plates 22%.of samples On MacConkey Mannitol Ampicillin Agar plates using surface plating technique, Aeromonads could be detected in 25 % of the examined raw milk samples Acidity content of all samples were within the normal level and ranged from 0.12 to 16%. Application of Methylene blue reduction test revealed that 88% of samples graded as good and 12% graded as fair. Aeromonas species recovered on MacConkey’s Mannitol Ampicillin Agar could be differentiated into A.hydrophiIa which could detected in 20 %, A.caviae could be detected in 3 % while A.sobria could be detected in 2 % of the examined raw milk samples. Concerning hemolytic activity, among Aerornonas strains, A. hydrophilci strains were the most hemolytic strain (90% hemolytic activity) A. sobria ranked the second showing ( 66.7% hernolytic activity). |
