Abstract This thesis investigates the stability of Multi-Bay Steel Frames having semi-rigid beam-column connections under static loads. An introduction to the semi-rigid connection principle and its application is followed by a review of previous research concerning semi-rigid connections. Using matrix analysis of structures, a computer program is prepared. Considering variables such as frame dimensions, the type of column bases, the relative inertia between beams and columns and the breadth to height ratio of the opening the critical buckling load factor is obtained for Three-Bay Rectangular Frames, Multi-Bay Pitched roof Frames and Three- Bay Saw-Tooth Frames. The plots of critical buckling load factor Pcr/PE against Rigidi ty Ratio of beam-column connection RRc are presented. Moreover, the effect of different parameters are studied and most of the results are tabulated. Based on results, many conclusions are presented in the end of this thesis. |
