Abstract Human CMV is one of the successful human parasites. It has learned to survive in its human host by infecting both vertically and horizontally thus, human CMV infection is common and reaches most of the population. The vast majority of CMV infection are clinically in apparent. Thus, diagnosis of CMV infection is mainly dependent on laboratory diagnosis. The aim of this work is to find out CMV-IgG and 1gM antibodies titres in the serum of women who showed normal pregnancy and normal labour and without clinically apparent congenital anomalies of the newly barns at birth. Eighty women, randomly selected from Gynaecology and Obstetrics department, Shibin EL-Kom Educational hospital shortly after normal labour were selected . For each woman, the levels of CMV—IgG & 1gM antibodies titres were investigated by micro - ELISA technique The prevalence of the seropositive CMV-IgM antibody with active and recent CMV infection was 6.2%, in primigravida was 11.5%, while in multigravida was 3.7% . As regards the old or reactivated CMV infection, with IqG seropositive cases, the prevalence was 75.5% of cases and it was 69.23% in primigravida, while in multigravida was 74.1 % |
