Abstract
This work aims to study the effect of regular hemodialysis on erythrooyte osmotic fragility in patients with chronic renal .failure and to determine whether the abnormalities in plasma lipids particularly cholesterol and triglyaerides have any effect on the erythrocyte osmotic fragility. The material of the work comprised thirty patients with chronic renal failure of different aetiologies. They were free from any disease which might affect the osmotic fragility including thalassaemias, sickle cell anaemias, acute alcoholism, neoplastic disorders and hepatocellular disease. A detailed review, clinical examination and laboratory investigations including complete blood picture, osmotic fragility test, blood Urea, Creatinine, cholesterol and triglycerides as well as calculating the blood indices were done for each patient.
The results of this work are sumraerized as follows :
