Abstract Occupational exposure to lead and cadmium is encountered’ in many industries and occupations. Because cadmium is always present in lead alloys; workers using lead are exposed to both toxicants. Batteiy manufacturing is the most common source of occupational exposure to lead and cadmium. Printing workers in the past were suffering from heavy exposure to lead and cadmium because they were using chemicals and articles containing such metals. Now, printing depends -to a great extent- on recent machines avoiding that heavy exposure to lead and cadmium. It was reported that battery workers exposed to cadmium had decreased glomerular filtration rate measured by inulin clearance, creatinine clearance and serum creatinine concentration to estimate the glomerular function. Accordingly, this work was planned to evaluate the effect of chronic exposure to lead and cadmium in battery manufacture workers and in printing workers. This study included 60 subjects, 20 of them were from printing workers. Another 20 of them were from battery manufacture workers. The last 20 subjects were the control |
