Abstract Vernal keratoconjunctivitis is a chronic external ocular disease chracterized by itching, lacrimation, discharge, cobble - stone papillae. A large number of patients have symptoms that are exacerbated in the spring, possibly due to increase in pollen count. The pathogenesis depends on allergen-IgE antibody mast cell union which results in mast cell degranulation and the release of chemical mediators which are responsible for the primary symptoms and signs. The managment is still a troublesome which varies from prophylactic measures to therapeutic modalities as : mast cell stabilizers, antihistamines, cyclosporine and corticosteroids. which are effective and relief symptoms and signs but its long term use leads to many side effects.Therefore,many other medical treatments have been tried. The aim of this work is to compare between topical dexamethasone 0. 1%ophthalmic solution as a steroid and topical l%indomethacin ophthalmic suspension as a potent nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory in the treatment and control of symptoms and signs of vernal keratoconjunctivitis.
