Abstract
Th pur pose cf thi $ study was to d t ermine whether trearm€rtt with denine ar abinoside alone, tr if luor othyor tke cot’ midriewas superior with regard to mean healing time arid adverso i eactions This study included 60 eyes selected from Qalawoon Ophthalmic Hospital outpatient in Cairo, and suffering from superficial herpetic keratitis. Their age ranged from 22 to 49 years with a mean of 27 years. Male to female ratio was 3:2
Dendritic keratitis presented in 30 eyes contitu— ting 50% of the study group. Stellate herpetic keratitis was prevalent, seen in 24 eyes, rating 40%. Striate herpetic keratitis was encountered in 5 eyes, rating 8.3%. Only one superficial punctate erosions was seen, rating 1.7%
Recurrences were recorded in 14 cases of the whole study group ranging from 1 to 3 previous attacks.
