Abstract

Prevalence of chronic diabetic complications varies from country to country, the prevalence increases with the increase in duration of the disease and age of the patient, poor diabetic control increases the prevalence of complications of diabetes. Microvascular complications of diabetes includes : retinopathy, nephropathy and nephropathy. The diabetic persons are also at a significant risk of developing coronary artery, cerebrovascular and peripheral vascular diseases.The aim of this study the prevalence of diabetic complications among diabetic patients in Menoufyia Governorate.Four hundreds diabetic patients either on diet regimen, oral hypoglycemic drugs and or on insulin therapy were included in the current study and the number of male patients were 178 and females were 222 and their ages was ranged between 18-80 years and the mean age was (44.6±11.47 years) among type 1 diabetic patients and (58.66±8.75 years) among type 2 patients all diabetic patients in the current study were subjected to :-Full history taking using detailed diabetic sheet index specially designed for this work.-Through clinical examinations.-Laboratory investigations including complete urine analysis, fasting blood sugar level, postprandial blood sugar level, serum cholesterol, serum triglycerides and blood uric acid, blood urea and serum creatinine, ALT (Alanine transaminases), AST (aspartate transaminases ) and radiological investigations (plain chest X ray postero- anterior view), U/S (ultrasonogram) abdomen, fundus examinations of eyes and 12-leads resting ECG examinations.
