The present study was conducted on 102 patient with allegation of corrosive exposure seeking for medical advice or treatment in MPCC from the 1st of April, 2004 to the end of March, 2005.
This study aimed to study the medico-legal aspect of these cases as regard, demographic pattern, mode of poisoning, relation between severity of poisoning and clinical manifestation, relation between severity of poisoning and complications, role of investigations and treatment and it’s outcome.
A patient sheet was designed for every patient including:-Age, Sex, occupation, residence.
Complaint in patient own wards.
Analysis of the complaint.
Associated symptoms which may be gastrointestinal, CNS, CVS, Respiratory, dermal or ocular.
Circumstances of poisoning.
Time of intake.
Time and date of arrival.
Referral data.
Mode of transfer.
Family and past history of similar condition.
General examination which involved level of consciousness according to grades of toxic coma and vital signs.
Systematic examination: Abdomen, chest, heart, CNS.
