Abstract The present study has aimed to throw light upon the abdominal injuries from the medico –legal point of view to fulfill this following was done 1- the literature was reviewed related toabdominal injuries starting from, general injury, anatomy,physiology of the abdomen and abdominal injuries (mechanism, types, causative instruments,mortality, complications...etc). 2- the available reports of cases of abdominal injuries that had been referred to shebin el-kom university hospital during the period of study were studied and analysed. Ineach case report the following informations were studied the age , sex ,education ,occupation ,marital status, time of arrival,place of injury ,transportation, accompaniment, circumstances ,causative instrument ,type of injury ,site of injury ,associated injuries and management . The results of study have showed that: 1. two hundred and sixty patients with abdominal trauma came to hospital during the period of study (first of april 2000 to the end of marsh 2001) .2. they were 193 males and 67 females (74.2%-25.8%)respectively with a sex ratio 2.88:1. |
