Abstract
* The study was carried on one thousand and six patients with trauma. they were 740 males (73.6%) and 266 females 26.4% with a sex ratio of 2.7:1
* As regards the marital status 5 1 .6% were single and 47% were married.
* The maximum number of injury in the sample was encountered in the age group 15 to less than 25 years and 25 to less than 35 years 22.8% and 22,4% respectively.
* The least number was encountered in the age group >55 years 5.1%
* As regards the level of education, it influenced the incidence of injuries, the less the level of education, the more the incidence of injuries.
* The influence of occupation on mi ury was studied most of the injuries were encountered among the manual workers 37.9%.
* The least number was met with in the intellectual group 13.1%.
* The habits of the patients were studied 20.5% of patients smoked tobaco, 0.1% smoked cannabis and 0.3% consumed alcohol.
* A small percent of the patients(5.6t’u) gave a history of previous diseases, while 15.6% of the cases gave a history of previous trauma.
* The morning shift followed by the afternoon shift seem to be the most crowded shifts as regards the arrival of the injured patients (44.9%) and (40.%) respectively while the night shift received the least number (15.1 %).
* A large number of patients 59.3% came from the rural areas, to be followed by the urban areas 40.7%.
