Abstract , Water is essential to man, animal and plants. So, any pollution will affect them. Water may be polluted through negligence of man as disposal of pollutants in water sources e.g. sewage, refuse and industrial products. Water may be polluted also naturally e.g. during times of flood siltation in rivers. Nowadays, there is a considerable concern for safety of drinking water from the chemical rather than the bacteriologi-cal aspects. The study was carried out on different location of water supply of Shcbin El-Kom i.e. surface and underground water, Also, samples were taken from main water pipes and tap water. Manganese, iron, zinc, copper, magnesium and lead were estimated. The study was done in February and June. The results were compared to recent Egyptian and International permissible levels for drinking water. Examination of surface water source samples in February and June showed no variation from Egyptian standards- Or comparing to international levels in February, zinc and copper were above the levels in all samples- lu June only aH copper samples were above the levels. |
