Abstract

It has well demonstrated that the prevalence of H pylon strongly varies between developing and developed countries, where prevalence among adult is typically around 80%-90% and 40%, respectively. Furthermore, modes and risk factors of transmission, as well as re infection rates are likely to vary between developing and developed countries (Rothenbacher et al., 2003).br>Prevalence of H pylon varies by geographic location, ethnic back ground, socioeconomic status and age. Recent studies show that ii pylon prevalence declining in developed countries and those with rapid socioeconomic improvement (Go, 2002)The clinical course of H. pylon infection is highly variable and is influenced by both microbial and host factors. The course may start with gastritis with the risk of clinical squeals, namely duodenal or gastric ulcers, mucosal atrophy, gastric carcinoma or gastric lymphoma (Dixon, 2001).
In this study we were trying to detect the prevalence of H. pylon in different types of gastro duodenal lesions.
The study had included 50 patients, 15 patients of them suffering from gastritis, 8 patients from peptic ulcer, 6 patients from dyspepsia, 6 patients from GERD, 13 patients from cancer stomach and 2 patients from MALT lymphoma.
The mean age of included patients was 49 yrs ± 13. The prevalence rate in patients with age above 35 yrs was (79.1 %) and below 35 yrs prevalence was (71.4 %).
