Abstract

The objective of this study was to assess the effect of some antioxidants (vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium and their combination) on the rats suffering from toxicity with aluminum chloride (AlCl3). The rats were divided into two main groups. The first group (7 rats) fed on basal diet as the control negative group. The second group (63 rats) toxicity rats with AlCl3.
Toxicity with aluminum were included in normal healthy rats by fed on basal diet containing 5mg AlCl3/g diet into 9 subgroup (n=9) according to the following scheme: Subgroup (1): fed on basal diet only (control positive). Subgroup (2): fed on basal diet+0.5mg vitamin C/g diet. Subgroup (3): fed on basal diet+1mg vitamin C/g diet. Subgroup (4): fed on basal diet+0.2 mg vitamin E/g diet. Subgroup (5): fed on basal diet+0.4 mg vitamin E/g diet. Subgroup (6): fed on basal diet+3 µg selenium/g diet. Subgroup (7): fed on basal diet+6 µg selenium/g diet. Subgroup (8): fed on basal diet + (0.5mg vitamin C+0.2 mg vitamin E+3 µg selenium)/g diet. Subgroup (9): fed on basal diet + (1mg vitamin C+0.4 mg vitamin E+6 µg selenium)/g diet. The experimental period was (8) weeks, after this period rats were sacrificed.
