Abstract

The study aimed to assessing level of job satisfaction and organizational commitment among studied nurses. Determining to what extent nurses use their time .Finally investigate effects of job satisfaction and commitment on the utilization of work time among studied nurses. The study was conducted at Mansoura General Hospital in all general surgical and medical units. The study sample included all nurses available at the period of study seventy eight studied nurses. There are two tools used in data collection which are job satisfaction, organizational commitment questionnaires to assessed job satisfaction and organizational commitment .Activity analysis record to estimated nurses’ work time . The study concluded that over all level of job satisfaction and commitment among nurses in surgical units was more than over all level of job satisfaction and commitment among nurses in medical units. One third of nurse’s time spent in nursing activities .Minority of time was consumed by staff nurses in administration, clerical, house keeping, dietary and messenger at medical and surgical units. There is no correlation between over all level of job satisfaction, commitment and over all items of utilization of work time by skill levels as well as area of activities among studied nurses.
