Abstract

The present study was conducted in order to evaluate the effect of the triple autologous biocomplex formed of PRP, autogenous bone graft and fibrin membrane in the management of class III localized maxillary anterior ridge defects. At the same time to assess the capability of this biocomplex in reducing healing time and accelerating implant loading. Fourteen class III localized maxillary anterior ridge defects of moderate type in fourteen patients were treated in this study. The participating patients were 5 males and 9 females varying in age from 20 to 45 years. The surgical steps were based on careful and gentle handling of the tissues with minimal tissue damage in a clean and aseptic operating environment and atraumatic technique using the trephine technique instead of the conventional successive drilling technique. The trephine technique we used in this study based on the use of single trephine bur of the same length as the implant and 0.5 mm less in diameter. This technique enables the preparation of the implant house and the harvesting of autogenous bone graft from the same site in one step. This autogenous bone was mixed with PRP and used to augment the defects around the implant, then covered with fibrin membrane. The patients recovered well after surgery and no complications were noted at any time during the observation period except for only one implant which was lost during the healing period.
