Abstract
Hepatic involvement has beeiz reported or known to occur in the common neonatal problems ;neonatal sepsis, permatal uiplijvui
and neonatal jaundice (in direct liyperhthruh in aelilia,). Ito we ver the exact type of involvement , incidence of occurrence, risk factors associated; and the impact outcome are not exactlj’ knowim . Clarification of these factors was the aim of our studj’.
The studi’ enrolled 3 groups of newborns hospitalized in NICU f Menoufij’a University Hosp ital , NICU of Teaching Hospital in Shihin El. J(omn amid NICU of children hospital in Benha. These groups are:
1- perinatal asphyxia group (28 infants,).
2- Neonatal sepsis group (39 infants,).
All newborns in our studj’ were evaluated regarding history, clinical course and detailed laboratory investigations looking for the possible factors leading to hepatic affection in infants wit/i sepsis, asphyxia amid jaundice.
