Abstract
The work was devoted to fifty females admitted to Shatby Maternity Hospital; Alexandria University from July 1985 till July 1987.
The cytologic and histopathologic diagnoses were achieved by quick methods; imprint (Pap stain) and frozen sections (HSE) and then confirmed by the paraffin sections (H&E).
Frozen sections technique showed accurate diagnosis in 74% , while the imprint was 86%, combining the two procedures together raised the success rate to 94%. Quick methods took a time ranging from 10 to 15 minutes .
The ages of the patients ranged in the whole series from 13 to 75 years.
The benign group comprised 22 cases and their ages ranged from 18 to 65 years with a mean of 41.23 (SD± 16.037)
The borderline tumor was mucinous cystadenoma encountered in a patient whose age was 13 years.
