Abstract The estimation of treatment needs is an important stage in oral health care planning. One of the first steps in planning dental services is therefore the collection of up-ta-date information on the prevalence of oral diseases in a given population. With this information it is possible to assess future treatment needs and demands for services. It is believed however, that through dental health education the gap between demand and need may be closed. Several factors have been related to oral status of the elderly, including age, number of teeth, and time since last visit to the dentist. This study was carried out to estimate the magnitude and types of needs, and demands for partial or complete removable dentures, in addition to study some factors that may affect the identified needs and demands for removable dentures. The present study was conducted in ”Alexandria Dental Research Center”. Data were collected by means of interview questionnaire, followed by dental examination of all patients attending the center for the sake of removable dental restorations for a period of 6 months. |
