Abstract study was carried out in both Medical Biochemistry and outpatient Clinic of Tropical Medicine Departments Faculty of Medicine Zagazig University. It included fifty male subjects who were divided into four groups and were crossly matched with age and socioeconomic level. These groups were: Group I: included 10 apparently healthy non smoker volunteers. They have no history of liver disease or any other diseases which may interfere with studied parameters. Group II: included 10 apparently healthy smoker volunteers. They have no history of liver disease or any other diseases which may interfere with studied parameters. Group III: included 15 smokers with compensated cirrhotic liver disease. Group IV: included 15 smokers with decompensated cirrhotic liver disease. All groups were subjected to the following: 1-Personal history including age, occupation, duration of smoking, number of cigarette per day and complete medical history taking. 2-Full clinical examination to signs of hepatic cirrhosis and to exclude other diseases that may interfere with studied parameters. 3-Chest X-ray, Abdominal ultrasonography and Liver core biopsy (for compensated patients). 6- Routine Laboratory investigation; including: complete blood picture, urine and stool analysis, renal function tests and Liver function tests including albumin, globulin, A/G ratio, Bilirubin (total and direct) and transaminases (ALT and AST |
