Abstract In this study, the occupaional health hazards were evaluated in a group of workers exposed to ionizing radiation. the study was conducted in El-Minia University Hospital, on a total number of 80personnels, 40 subjects working in the radiology department and occupationally exposed to ionizing radiation as cases (exposed), and 40 matched subjects in comparable but different occupations not exposed to ionzing radiation as a control (not exposed). the study was conducted during the period from january 1999 to December 1999. The results of this study showed similar sex distribution and occupational position representation in both the radiation exposed and control groups and the difference was not significant (P=0.8).The adherence to the regular protective measures and the use of protective equipments whenever in work or present at the radiation exposure areas showed that in the radiation exposed group 14 out of 40 subjects were not using the protective equipments while 7 out of 40 control subjects were not using such equipments whenever present in radiology department and the difference was not statistically significant(P=0.1). |
