Abstract

Vertebral compression fracture are widespread problem in elderly population , with approximately 700,000 Vertebral compression fracture occurring in USA each year as a result of osteoporosis , other causes of Vertebral compression fracture include Malignant and benign tumor , hemangioma , multiple myloma.
Long term consequences of vertebral compression fracture include adverse effect on mental, gasterointestinal and pulmonary health, which may ultimately increase mortality. An overall decrease in quality of life can result from pain related disruption of sleep , decrease in mobility ( 1 ) .
The first image guided perctuanesus Vertebroplasy was performed in 1984 in France by Galibert et al ( 2 ) . The authors successfully treated chronic spine pain in a 50 year old women with cervical vertebral ( C2 ) hemangioma by injecting polymethylmethacrylate ( PMMA ) bone cement into lesion . Shortly thereafter , the technique was used to treat painful vertebral compression fracture caused by osteoporosis , Malignancy , Metases , Multiple myloma ( 3 ) .
Percutaneous Vertebroplasy is a therapeutic method in which the vertebral body is percutaneously filled with acrylic cement via posterior transpediculer approach under local anaesthesia with conscious sedation under fluoroscopic control ( 3 , 4 ) .
Perctuanesus Vertebroplasy complications are infrequent and consist of local process such as infection or cement leakage into spinal canal or perivertebral venous system ( 5 , 6 ) , other complication usually are related to initial vertebral disease rather than to Vertebroplasy technique it self ( 7 ) .
