Abstract This work was carried on the plant tissue culture Laboratory in fac. Environ Agri. Sci., El Arish Suez Canal Univ. during the period from 200-2005. The aim objectives of these studies were to establish callus formation for Achillea fragrantissima and Ecballium elaterium by using tissue culture technique and to study their response to salinity and drought stresses and the effect of these stresses on callus mineral composition . The results show that the best callus fresh weight and calus midex were obtained with 2 mg1 –1 2.4-D for the two plant species . Increasing NaCI levels and mannitol concentrations decreased callus fresh and dry weight . Adding 4 mg-1 BA to MS medium in E. eaterium gave the highest . No shoots and no roots but, A. fragrantissima did not response . The combination between Ful 1.5 mgl –1 BA and 0.2 mgl –1 NAA gave higher number and length shoots in , A. fragrantissima. |
