Abstract
The aim of the present work is to study the quality of hospital care provided for infants and children admit ted to hospital be cause of gastroentritis, respiratory illnesses or malnutrition or any combinati~n of the three diseases. As sample of pediatricins (16 pediatric) working in the hospitals of study viz Shatby University Hospital for children, Raml and Anfoushy Pediatric Hospitals were, in terviewed regarding the criteria for admission and the services (diagnostic, therapeutic) recommended and the condition on discharge as well as the length of stay. A suitable surveying sheet was constructed to study the characteristic of patients such as age, body-weight on admission, durotion of~ illness, history of previous hospitalizatio~ etc. as well as to determine the extent of conformity of .the care provided with that recommended in the preset criteria.
