Abstract
This study was performed on 77 diabetic patients and 34 age-matched healthy person as control.
The diabetic patients were classified into four subgroups according to :
I- Family history of diabetes into:
1- patients with negative family history (38 patients).
2- patients with positive family history (39 patients).
II- Duration of disease into :
1- diabetics with disease duration less than 5 years (28 patients).
2- diabetics with disease duration more than 5 years (49 patients).
This group was further classified according to presence or absence of vascular complications:
A- Non vascular complicated diabetics with disease duration less than 5 years (28 patients).
B- Non vascular complicated patients (14 patients).
C- Vascular complicated patients (35 patients).
Groups B C were diabetics with disease duration more than 5 years.
