Abstract

The present study aims to investigate the possibility of introducing the Russian Comfrey as a fodder crop in Egypt by determining its productivity, chemical composition and digestibility. Two major experiments are carried out. The objective of the first experiment is the determination of the productive capacity and chemical composition of comfrey (symphtum peregrunum l) in Egypt. Comfrey sprouts are planted on rows at a rate of 15000/feddan. As for the second experiment, a series of eight digestibility trials with sheep are carried out over a period of 18 months to determine the nutritive value of Russian Comfrey plants are cut when their leaf length reaches about 50 cm.
