Abstract

The fish family labridae, popularly called wrasses, is widely distributed in tropical and temperate seas. They inhabit mainly coastal, shallow waters, even often inter-tidally and sometimes in brackish water, coral reef, rocky areas or scaweed and algal inshore areas (Quignard & Prass, 1986; Costello, 1991). They are found solitary or in small groups. Most of they are only active during daytime, hiding themselves in rock crevices or sea meadows at night to night to sleep, or burying themselves in the sand.
