Abstract -173- ENGLISH SUMMARY In this work we try to throw light on the child psychiatric disorders. The first point in this study is the normal develop-ment of child from birth to adult hood, and we discuse the various theories of normal psychological development. Also we discuse the normal physical development and the important land mark (Mile stone) in every year of the developing child. In relation to general etiological causes of child psychiatric disorders we can say that there are many etiological theories to explain the psychiatric disorders in children, most of them are related to either:- 1-Constitutional factors. 2-The effect of physical diseases or injury. 3-Temperamental Factors. 4-Environmental Factors. Also we can say that it is unusual to find a single clear-cut cause for a child psychiatric disorders. For the most part, child psychiatric disorders are not ”disease entities” like appendicities or measles, but -174- complex reactions to a variety of factors in developing personality. In child psychiatric disorders there is no entirely satisfactory classification of child psychiatric disord-ers exists, but recent years have seen the development of multiaxial systems which have already proved valuable. These systems provide a series of parameters or axis, upon which every disorder must be classified. Now there are various classification of psychiatric disorders in children, such as the ”International Classification of Diseases” (ICD9) by who and the other classification of the American Psychiatric Association which described in the third edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-III) In this work we will follow the Diagnostic Manual of Psychiatric Disorders, which put by the Egyptian Psychiatric Association. In this part we put a comperative study between the diagnostic criteria of each disease occording to the 3 systems of classification (ICD9 , DSM-III, and DUI). Since child psychiatric disorders are multifactorial -175- in origin, a variety of treatment approaches may need to be used, and there is no one line of treatment can give the patient satisfactory improvement. The variety of treatment approaches include:- (1)Individual psychotherapy. (2)Help for the parents. (3)Family therapy. (4)Behaviour therapy. (5)Drug therapy. (6)In patient treatment. (7)Educational therapy. (8)Speech therapy. (9)Removal from parental care (substitute family) The last point is how to prevent the child psychia-tric disorders before they occur, because it is much better to prevent diseases than to treat them once they are established. Less attention has nevertheless, in the past, been given to prevention, than to treatment services prevent-ion has been divided into primary, secondary, and tertiary types. |
