Abstract Rice, (Oryza sativa L.) in Egypt and all over the world is one of the most important cereal crops. The world rice crop is attacked by more than 100 species of insects, 20 of which result in economic damage. Insect pests that can cause significant yield losses are stem borers, leaf hoppers and plant hoppers (Ashrafe/a/.1986). The Egyptian rice fields are rich in natural enemies Hendawy (2001). The most common species are the egg-parasitoid, Trichogramma evanescens Westw. and rove beetle, Paederus alfierii Koch. Integrated insect programs should be applied to enhance the role of predators and parasitoids in controlling the dangerous pests, especially the rice stem borer. |
