Abstract This work was carried out in Desiuq district, Kafs El-Sheik11 Goveinorate, during the late summer seasons of 1993 and 1994. The maill objective of this researcll was to study the effect of some nitrogen levels and foliar sprays treatments with some materials which reduce flowers dropping and improve ii-uit set on tomato plants cv. Castlerock. The nitrogen levels included 50, 100, 150 and 200 kg Nlfed. and foliar application treatrnents included: I . Control (without foliar sprays). 2. K20 at 1% (as potassium sulphate at 2%). 3. K20 at 1 % +4-CPA at I 0 ppm. 4. 4-CPA at 10 ppm. 5. Kaolinite at 6% + 4-CPA at 10 ppm. 6. Ikolinite at 6%. 7. K20 at 1 % +4-CPA at I0 ppm + I<aolinite at 6%. A split-plot design with four replications was used. Nitrogen levels were distributed ratidoinly in the main plot and folliar application were rwdoinly assigned in the sub-pot. The area of the sub-plot was 18 1n2. The transplants were set into the field on 20 April in both years. The study included vegetative gsowtl~,f lowering, fi-uits set, total h~itysi eld, yield, components, fi-uit quality and mineral constituents of leaves. hits quality included titratable acidity, total soluble solids (TSS %), ascorbic acid (V.C. 1ngIl00 g fiesli weight) and average fi-uit weight. |
