Abstract Sulphur is a vital nutrient in agricultural production . It is now considered as the fourth major nutrient after N, P and K. The knowledge of sulphur forms distribution in the soil profile is of a considerable importance to predict sulphur deficiency or its requirement for crops. Also, sorption of ~0in a~ soil~ is o-f a major importance because it determines to what extent the added ~0is ~~- leached from the plant root zone. On the other hand, evaluation and calibration of soil sulphur extraction procedures is of great importance to chose the best method that give reproducible results and correlate with plant uptake. So, the present work aims to (1) study the distribution of different sulphur forms in relation to soil profile depths, (2) sorption of sulfate anion on surface of the tested soils, under the effect of wetting and drying cycles and different soil moisture content and to (3) evaluate different S-extraction methods to obtain the more convenient procedure for the soils of the studied area. |
