Abstract

Three field experiments were carried out at Farm of Sakha Agricultural Research Station Kafi El-Sheikh Governorate, Egypt, during seasons 1995, 1996 and 1997, the first two seasons were assigned to study the effect of first post sowing irrigation and terminal irrigation timing on some water relations, and predicted yield of cotton by using computer progame (COTTAM) using actual counts of squares, green bolls and open bolls. Also inputs include climatological variables, e.g., maximum and minimum temperahre and solar radiation. This important inputs include, also, irrigation timing and quantity of water applied in each irrigation. The third year 1997 consecrated to investigate the plant water status, through field measurements ,of plant water potential (LWP), under the effect of first post sowing irrigation and terminal irrigation timing. The aim of this work was to: 1- Find out the best time to apply the first post sowing irrigation (Mollayah) and the optimum time to stop cotton irrigation. 3- Quantify the evaluation of cotton plant water stahls, through measu~ring the leaf water potential (LWP) to understand the nature of the crop response to both irrigation and drought imposed by the first post sowing irrigation and final irrigation timing under the condition of the studied area. 3- To \\cork simulation study to predict cotton yield and its components by using computer progame (COTTAM) to know the best crop management and to help the policy makers to inake good decisions.
