The recent period witnesses more interest in security than before. Achieving existence, security and peaceful living of the human beings become a complex problem for the recent world.The curricula, as an education means in achieving its aims play a great role in achieving sound perception of fearless, stability and safety in general.Social studies curricula, in particular contribute in achieving this aim because of its social nature and sensitivity that enable students to be aware of the surrounding dangers in their communities, and the suitable means for confrontation.In spite of the relationship between achieving the sense of security and the social studies, as achieving security is one of the priorities of its social functions.The need for this study has come up as a result of the severe lack of research in the field of security concept in social studies curricula.The problem of the study :The problem of the present study has been stated in the following main question:To what extent does the security concept exist in the curricula of social studies in the prep — stage ؟The main question can be divided into the following sub-questions : 1- What are the security components that should exist in the social studies curriculua of the prep stage ؟ 3 we SMEARY jectives and the prep stage in the 2-To what extent do these components exist in the content of the social studies in the prep stage?3-What is the proposed conceptual framework of the light of the components of security concept ؟ 4-What is the proposed conception of a unit that contain of security concept? The Scope of the study :The study is limited to :1-The social studies curricula in the prep-stage [objectiv s and content].2-A proposed unit that presents the security concep in the prepstage without implementation.The significance of the study :It is expected that this study may be helpful in : 1-Defining the components of the security concept that should be taken into consideration while planning the social studi s curricula in the prep — stage.2-Presenting a model unit based on the security.Procedures of the study :The procedures of the study are as follows : First Defining the components of security concept the social studies curricula in the prep sta accomplished through the following:Reviewing the previous studies and research relate to the present study.The prep-stage learners’ needs and developing charact sties.The nature and objectives of the social studies in the p ep stage.at should exist in e. This will be the components de, 4 vb sitertriNn The nature of security concept.Second: Defining the security components and preparing a questionnaire to survey specialists opinions.Third : Preparing criterion that deals with the components of security concept which should be taken into consideration in the objectives and content of the social studies curricula in the prep stage in the light of the first and the second procedures mentioned above.Fourth: Standardization of the criterion and Revising it.Fifth : Applying the criterion on the objectives and the content of the social studies curricula in the prep — stage to determine the extent to which these components are available.Sixth : Explaining results : seventh :designing a suggested conception for social studies in the prep stage in the light of the results that help in applying the criterion.Eighth : Designing a suggested unit in the light of security concept.Ninth : Summary of the study.Tenth : Recommendations and suggestions.Study Results :This study contributes in defining the basic components of security concept from the social studies point of view at the prep — stage like belonginess, Justice, freedom, stability, co-operation, protection, peace and balance. Therefore it is clear that Study results assured the truth of the hypotheses.
