Abstract Level control process has many industrial applications such as nuclear power plants, steam power plants, food industry and petrochemical industry. This control process requires high static accuracy and high speed response without overshoots. A modern control algorithm based on the variable structure control theory is applied to the process to achieve these design aspects. The effect and viability of this control method and comparisons with conventional control methods (PID&LQR) are investigated by conducting control performance simulations . It is realised that the Variable structure Contoller (VSC) is insensitive to parameter variations, in addition it satisfies properly the required design aspects. The robustness of the VSC is confirmed by simulation. |
