Abstract
Homeostasis in continually renewing tissues is maintained by a tightly regulated balance between cell proliferation. Cell differentation, and cell death. Apoptosis, physiological cell death, is a genetically controlled form of cell death that has been described in healthy and diseased tissues. BcI-2 was the first cellular gene identified as a regulator of apoptosis. Its expression in some inflammatory and neoplastic skin dermatoses may suggest a role in their pathogenesis.
