Abstract Four field experiments were carried out in the Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Tanta University at Kafr El-Sheikh during each of1994195 and 1995196 seasons to study the effect of preceding crops, seeding rates and nitrogen levels on growth, yield and yield attributies of wheat cultivar, Giza 163 (Triticum aestivum L.). Each experiment included 16 treatments which were the combination between four sceding rates (45, 60, 75 and 90 kg seedslfed) and four nitrogen levels (60,75,90 and 105 kg Nlfed.). A split plot design, with four replications was used. The main plots in all experiments were devoted to four seeding rates, while nitrogen levels were distributed randomly in the sub-plot. Two experiments were sown after maize (Zea mays L.) and other two experiments were sown after rice (Oriza sativa L.). The analysis of variance according to Golnez and Gomez (1984) was carried out as a combined analysis between the two experiments in each year to obtain the effect of preceding crops. |
