Abstract

this investigation was to study the effect of different types of irrigation waters under different nitrogen fertilization levels on the yield and yield component of maize plants and some chemical properties in North Delta soils. A field experiments were carried out in Beyala Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate during two successive seasons 1995 and 1996 using split plot design. The main plots were four different types of irrigation treatments (fresh, alternative, mixed and drainage irrigation waters). The sub plots were four levels of nitrogen fertilizer as a urea form (0, 80, 120 and 140 kg N/fed.) at three equal doses. The obtained results during the two years of experimentation (1995 & 1996) are summarized in the following: 5.1. Chemical analysis of irrigation water: a. Fresh water: The mean EC values of the irrigation water during the two season 0.72, SAR values 2.82, adj. SAR 5.07 and the micro nutrient Fe, Ca, Mn & Zn 0.16,0.03, 0.06 and 0.0 1 ppm, respectively. b. Mixed fresh and drainage water: The mean EC values ofthe irrigation water during the two season 1.57 dS/m, SAR values 5 33, adj. SAR 1 1.46 and the micro nutrient Fe, Cu, Mn and Zn (1.0 1, 0.04, 0.19 and 0.025 ppm, respectively.) c. Drainage water: The mean EC values of the irrigation water during the two seasons 2.17 dS/m, SAR 6.98, adj. SAR 14.66 and the micro nutrient Fe, Cu, Mh & Zn 1.69, 0.07, 0.28 and 0.06 ppm respectively.
