Abstract
The aim of the present investigation was to study the effect of oralzinc administration on upper gastrointestinal tract motility gastric secretion, blood glucose level, oral glucose tolerance test, KG value and lipid profile in diabetic patients.
Twenty control subjects and thirty male diabetic patients were selected from attendants to the depeartment of Internal Medicine, Menoufiya University Hospital.
None of the patients or the control subjects had a history of esophageal or abdominal surgery for appendicectomy, or esophageal lesions by upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.
The supject were divided into the following groups:
GroupI: Non diabetic, non-treated subjects.
GroupII: Non diabetic, zinc- treated subjects.
GroupIII: Diabetic, non- treated patients.
GroupIV: Controlled-diabetic patients.
Group V: Combined controlled & oral Zinc- treated diabetic patients
All patients and controls were subjected to the following
1- Detailed history taking.
2-Clinical examination.
4- Abdominal ultrasonography and upper GIT endoscopy
