Abstract

This investigation was carried out at Rice Research and Training Center (RRTC), Sakha, Kafr El-Sheikh, Genetics Dept., Fac. Agric., Kafr El-Sheikh, Tanta University, Egypt, and Directorate of Rice Research (DRR) Hyderabad, India during the period from 1996 to 2000. This tudy included five parts : First : screening of some genotypes to allelopathic activity in rice. Second : identification of some allelochemicals which related to allelopathic activity Third : isozyme and molecular marker analysis . Fourth : the genetics of some vegetative, yield and its components . Fifth : evaluation of 60 F3 families to allelopathic activity and some yield components. This study aimed to screen 22 genotypes for allelopathic activity against E. crus-galli, understanding the genetic control of allelopathic activity and some of the yield components, breeding and enhancement to allelopathic activity and practice isozymes analysis to six parents, 15 F1 hybrids and ten combinations of F3 lines by using peroxidase and esterase isozymes. In the first part: twenty two rice genotypes were screened for allelopathic activity against E. crus-gallt under artificial infestations by using 2 g/m2 seed. to determine weed control percentage in two seasons 1996 and 1997.
