Abstract This work was carried out to investigate the biological activities of freeze-dried bee venom representing the natural venom present in the stings of bees without any chemical treatment. Large number of a hybrid of carniolan bees, namely 25000 bee were collected from the bee hives in the period between February and April on 1971 and 1972 seasons. The venom apparatus of the bees was removed gently and the active principle was extracted by grinding with pure glass powder and addition of distilled water. The supernatant fluid containing the venom extracted was separated by centrifugation. The clear supernatant fluid was collected and subjected to freeze-drying using speedivac freeze-dryer for 16 hours, after which the extract was completely freeze-dried. |
