Abstract Schistosomiasis represents one of the most common and serious health problems in Egypt, it is an endemic parasitic disease and -is considered by the World Health Organization (WHO) to be the second most important tropical disease. The kidney is considered one of the organs that is severly affected by schistosomiasis. Myrrh is an oleo-gum resin from the stem of the plant commiphora • molmol and it is a new drug used for the treatment of schistosomiasis. The objective of the present study is to through more light on the histological effect of commiphora molmol on the kidney of adult male golden hamsters and those infected with S.hacmatobium. Materials and Methods The animals used were forty adult male golden hamsters, weighting 140-160 gm. They were divided into four groups each of which composed of 10 animals . 1- G ro11_])_ I: (CoII troI) The animals received saline solution (1.25 ml) by intrapcritoneal injection. 2- Group II: (Non infected groujij Non infected animals with schistosomiasis received rnirazid 250 mg/kg by intraperitoneal injection for three days. 3- Group 111: (Infected group) Infected animals with S.haematobium received saline solution (1.25 ml) by iniraperiioneal injection for three days. |
