Abstract

GERD is a common condition, generally caused by transient LES relaxation, the spectrum of disease due to GERD is wide, ranging from symptoms alone to esophagitis, Barrett’s esophagus and respiratory tract complications. Only within the last decade with availability of new diagnostic methods and treatments have researchers begun to demonstrate the clinical patterns and mechanisms of GERD in O.R.L. patients. The aim of this work is to study the effects of GERD on laryngeal mucosa. This study was carried out on sixty patients complaining of GERD with laryngeal symptoms from the out patient clinic of internal medicine in Menofyia University. There were subjected to:- through History taking and clinical examination. Investigations include:- 1- upper gastro-intestinal endoscopy. 2-twenty four hour esophageal PH monitoring. 3-Assessment of pharynx and larynx. 4-Biopsy was taken suspicious areas of diseased mucosa for histopathogical examination of thirty patients
