Abstract

The thesis is divided into four main chapters -1- Introduction Includes a literature survey on schiff-bases ligands and their complexes with some divalent transition elements. - II. Experimental Which includes the method used for the preparation of ligands both of bis-dehydroacetic acid-i,8-naphthaleneimine [H2LJ] and N-2¬(dehydroacetic acid)-o-phenyleneciiamine [HI}] and their complexes with transition elements were described. The techniques used for the analytical and spectral studies, electron spill resonance, thermal and magnetic measurements were also discussed and the method used for determination of biological activity. 111- Results and Discussion which includes: . - III-I. Copper(II), nickel(ll), cobalti!l), zinc(ll), manganese(II), and cadmium (If) complexes of bis-dehydroacetic acid-I,8¬naphthaleneimine have been characterized by analytical, spectral and physically methodes. -111-2. Copper(ll), nickel(ll), cobalt(ll) and manganese(II), complexes of N-2-(dehydroacetic acid)-o-phenylenediamine have been, analytically, spectrally and physically characterized. -111-3. The biological effect of the ligands and their complexes on Parasancophaga aegyptiaca saiem. was studied.
