Abstract Mechanical ventilation is any method in which an apparatus is used to assist breathing. In the recent decades a great advance had been achieved in the field of mechanical ventilation leading to a marked increase in the frequency of its usage However the weaning from the ventilator is a great challenge for all intensivists . Many studies had been conducted to describe modes and strategies. Many studies had been conducted to describe modes and strategies of wearing as well as to monitor complications associating the process of wearing The present study was conducted to investigate the incidence and significance of myocardial ischemia during the wearing period . Previous studies had suggested that myocardial ischemia might be a cause of failure of wearing specially in patients with previous history of coronary artery disease The study was carried out during a six months period in the critical care unit III , Alexandria main university hospital. It included 102 mechanically ventilated patients with different diagnosis. The wearing decision, mode and patient management were decision of the treating physician |
